Melbourne : Day 4
Back to civilization.
Haha apparently it's not a cold that I have, supposedly it's hayfever. Not that I'd know I've never had hayfever before Every orifice in my head is leaking.
Hey look it's SickwaH.
9:26 PM
Decided to retreat to bed early to maintain a little sanity. My head is so clouded ATM. I guess I should try to finish the blog post I've Been attempting for 3 days. Maybe not the best time considering I'm so stuffy but if I keep putting it off it will never be finished.
I think Dave has forgotten he was coming through to say goodnight to us. Oh well you're too slow hun, lil guy has dropped & I'm about to follow.

Melbourne - Maryborough... Day 3
8:34 AM
Good morning world. It's another rainy day in Melbourne. Currently sitting on 8 degrees. Apparently Brisbane is going to be having another dust storm again today. glad I won't be there for it. However I am getting a case of the sniffles. The heating is wreaking havok on my poor little body :(
9:55 AM
OMG I can see the tiniest bit of blue sky now.
10:28 AM
So I am sitting on verandah which backs onto bathroom. I can hear Dave & the lil guy having showers. They're too funny. They have my white exfoliation glove. So I just leant up to window and blasted them with Michael Jackson megamix. Thought it might help. I don't think they appreciated my help. actually I think the little guy had no idea what the hell was going on.
11:46 AM
Well we are now on the road on our way to Maryborough for a 100th birthday party. This will be my first 100th. I don't think they are a very common occurrence, who knows maybe this will be the only 100th I am ever invited to.
12:49 PM
We're in my old territory now. Muhahaha can't see too much of a difference but we are going down the freeway. Oh wait they have 2 new Maccas near Calder Park. Dave & his Mum are in the front. Lil guy and I are in the back but he isn't doing much for companionship, he's had his head stuck in his DS for about half hour already and I don't see it changing anytime soon. I've tried pointing out a few things as we pass but he doesn't seem too interested. Oh well he's happy and that's all that matters plus he is doing maths training again. Can't complain when it's educational.
3:27 PM
We made it to Maryborough despite the rain, but guess who's getting sick. Stupid Melbourne!!
However, something positive. found a little free wi-fi hotspot in town. so we aren't that far from civilization. who knows maybe we'll have access at the hotel. God my head feels stuffed up! It's nice at the moment though because we have stopped for a few minutes down the main street. Dave and his Mum have gone for a wander and it is just the lil guy and myself (and NO heating.)
10:00 PM
Well we went for a drive to the nursing home. I had to stay in the car because I was sick :(
I hope I get to go tomorrow. oh well looking for a silver lining... I get to pump my music loud for about half an hour.
After the nursing home visit we went around to see some of Dave's relatives. It was both great and nerve wracking at the same time. Although I had met everyone, I had only met them a couple times. I felt a little like an outcast for awhile, but then we went down to Safeway (Woolworths in the real world) and bought some drinks from the adjoined bottle shop. We had a nice BBQ for dinner and then Dave, his Mum and the little guy went back to the nursing home. again sickness meant I was banned. A couple drinks later and now this is when I really started to relax. These guys have always been wonderful at making me feel welcome. I had a great relaxed time and in a way I was kind of sad when the others returned and we had to leave for the hotel. I think Dave was too and I know the lil guy was sad to say goodbye to his 2 new best friends (cousins) but it was getting late & he needed sleep. *grumbles*
When we got back to the hotel we noticed there was a wi-fi connection except it was secured. Dave was trying to guess the password and I half-jokingly said it's probably admin. Dave laughed and said "Don't be silly it wouldn't be... Oh wait, thank you" although even after that we still couldn't actually access the net. so we climbed into bed and crashed watching Pretty Woman on TV.

Melbourne Day 2
Rain, glorious rain...
I'm all rugged up, but I don't think it's that cold.
I have discovered something though... Sitting in shopping centre in Melbourne is just like sitting in shopping centre in Brisbane but with less chance of being recognised.
Dave had a little incident today. He dropped his iPhone. I swear I thought there were going to be tears, but the biggest irony of this was we had just been looking at protective cases for the phone.
Because it is so rainy & icky we're canceling our get-together with friends. No one wants to go out in this. It doesn't bother me though so Dave and I are heading into the city to go on an adventure anyway. I hope we see something cool, eh the whole thing is going to be cool no matter what. Jebus!!! $10.80 each for tickets to the city. Brisbane Transport I will never diss your pricing again.
The train seats are kinda pretty though.
I know he hates having his photo taken but I managed to get a quick shot of Dave down a dark alley (Yep, we are that seedy - KIDDING, we were photographing the graffiti.)
We were just about to go into McDonalds when we saw a police car pull out into the middle of an intersection and stop, with the lights flashing.
Then another one came and another. We could hear distant chanting so went down for a closer look turned out there was a "free Palestine rally"
It would have to be the most unorganised rally I have ever witnessed. people were just screaming random chants not in time with each other and I just don't think they got their message out properly. So anyway we headed back into Maccas and now this chick won't STFU... Shut it already woman I don't care for your POV about everything.
Ok off to Southbank to see the sights
It may only be 12 degrees but I refuse to be rugged up.
These are some really big steps at Southbank. I practically had to leap from step to step to get up there.
Off to check out further down the river now and maybe Crown.
Well we noticed a few marquees and tents out near Crown and it turned out there was a Triple M broadcast going on. with the boys from Masterchef. I was as happy as a pig in shit. I love the show. Gary is a doll but for me the real hero of the show is Matt Preston. So as they finished their broadcast the boys headed off towards Crown with their publicists etc. I figured why the hell not... So I chased after Matt and he was kind enough to let me grab a photo, idiot me didn't think to ask for an autograph but then again I was pretty much in shock that I got to meet the guy anyway. I think this moment alone has already made the holiday worthwhile. We headed back to Flinders st after this. *yawn* bed beckons.
11:50 PM
Well we made it back to the east side. There were some funny people to watch on the train. There was one chick who was so damn drunk, she was getting angry at her boyfriend for not answering her calls. despite the fact that we were going through the underground train loop and nobody had phone signal. and then there was another chickie a bit later who was on her mobile phone chatting away with who I can only assume was her significant other anyway she did clearly state near the start of the call that she was dead tired. Apparently so, she dozed off mid conversation for a few minutes. I think the person on the other end of the call may have yelled at her when she let out a little snore.
We decided to walk back from the station. stuff waiting for a taxi. the only problem was I was absolutely busting for the loo and the ones at the station were already locked. we started walking but there were no toilets in sight. Then we came across a guy who asked to borrow a lighter. next thing he's asking if we "smoke." I swear I don't think I have ever been on a holiday where somone hasn't been offering drugs. of course we declined. We kept walking an eventually made it to this secluded bushland area. So I made Dave keep watch found a nice bush to hide behind and went for an outdoor wee. Ahhh now this brings me back to the old Melbourne days haha except I think this would have to be the first outdoor wee where I was not intoxicated.
So now we're sitting back, cigarette, a glass of coke then off to bed
It's funny, I lived here for like 7 years. Thought I missed the place but I just don't feel the connection. It seems soul-less now. I thought Melbourne was the "place to be" but tonight everyone just seemed yuppy and faceless. It just lacks the warmth of Brisbane and its people. I miss strangers who smile and give you the nod. Yeah I think it's confirmed I'm a QLD girl at heart. Uh ohh only have 11% battery left. Good thing I'm going to bed soon.

Melbourne... I have arrived !
We haz arrived !! Melbourne watch y0 back.
Honestly I was a little nervous before the flight. It has been 7 long years since I have been in Melbourne. 7 years since I have seen any of my old friends and 7 years since I have been in the presence of Dave's Mum.
Our relationship didn't get off to a very good start back in the day (to say the least) but I am willing to let bygones be bygones. I don't see the point in holding a grudge for years on end. It takes more energy to hate than to forgive & forget.
We were picked up at Melbourne airport and it took the little guy all of about 30 seconds before he was over his nerves of meeting Grandma. I think the entire car ride back to her place I smiled. I couldn't help but look in awe at how the city had developed. It was the same and yet it wasn't.
We didn't do too much today, it rained and was kinda bleurghh but we did have fish & chips for dinner. God that was good. There is a certain taste to Melbourne fish & chips that Brisbane just can't quite match. Anyway that's about it for tonight I am kinda sleepy, I think we should be going out tomorrow night to catch up with old friends.
First real family holiday ever - the journey
Well I have to keep my phone in aeroplane mode because we are 39048ft in the air doing 431mph (almost 700kmph) I've got the music pumping and yet the kid continues yapping away. Well I guess that means no music for me. Someone's food smells pretty bad, it has made me sneeze twice already.
Well we're over half way and I've cracked a can of beam and coke. I normally wouldn't drink until night time except I am bored as hell. I don't deal well sitting in the same spot doing nothing for any period of time.
I don't know whether it's the half can of bourbon talking (hey I'm a light-weight at normal altitude) but I'm reasonably happy with the day so far. Things were going pretty well this morning we got everything packed and the last few chores done even got everyone showered including me having a quick go with the plunger and clearing the shower drain.
I had our whole journey planned out and things were going great until the bus left while we were standing at the lights. He was 3 minutes early. We must mark this day in history because Brisbane buses are ALWAYS late. So we missed our connecting train and the following train. We decided the nest option would be to find a taxi instead of waiting for the airtrain and get this, was $5 cheaper. Yeah put that in your pipe and smoke it air train people.
Then when we went to check in one of the reservation chicks spotted 2 unattended bags. I totally expected to hear the evacuation siren go off but someone came to claim it. Thank god!!!
My throat is still dry and sore from the epic dust storm yesterday. I know I probably shouldn't have gone out in it. I only went out for 5 minutes at a time if that and only a few times but to be really honest it was totally worth it. I'd be kicking myself if I had missed the experience and not gotten the photos I did.
I could totally murder a cigarette about now, I can go longer than this normally but it is the habit of having a smoke when you have a drink. Oh well we should be in Melbourne in about 20 so I guess we'll have bags within 30-40 mins.
I swear the are gradually changing the air con lower and lower, probably to prepare us for Melbourne's cold weather. According to the forecast it is meant to rain all week. Wow it is just pure white cloudsout the window now. Brisbane didn't have a cloud in the sky. NSW had scattered clouds.
I'm hungry now. It sucks sometimes being such a tight arse. But it already cost me $18 for three drinks, I wasn't about to line someone elses pockets any more. However now I have said that I am seriously contemplating hitting McChucks when we land for a cheeseburger. I need the toilet again. I am such a girl, these guys haven't moved once yet I pee'd at home, at the airport and already once on the plane now I need to go again. Scary considering this is only a 2 hour flight.
We're now doing 441mph altitude 38508ft. I probably should go toilet before they put the seat belt sign on again.
Geez bloody copy cats. I go toilet now everyone wants to go. Well that's cool means I can lay on their seats. I move for no one.
Hey there's still 15-20 before we land no fair. We're about to start descent, we're doing 455mph and at 34175ft. I'm going to have to sit up soon too. Luckily for me the guys got stuck in a queue. Ok ears popping. Bai bai.

Welcome to my world. Visit as often as you like, just leave your shoes at the door.
Well I guess I should finally start this thing. I don't know why, but I have been putting off having a personal blog for years. While I might think that I haven’t accomplished much so far in my life, I have found I am continually giving advice to people and they are asking for my opinion on their issues. So maybe I do have something worthwhile to contribute. Other than that I have been thinking a lot lately about life and death and before you start getting worried, NO I am not suicidal. I’ve just had some friends lately who have had some rather crappy things happen to those they are close to and it got me thinking. What if something bad were to happen to me? I have many experiences I would one day like to share with my child and this is a way I can guarantee that if something were to happen to me (touch wood it never does) he would still have a chance to get to know the person I really am. So, who am I? *shrugs* I don’t know.
I’m a 27 year old chick who lives in Brisbane with her fiancĂ© and 7 year old son. I’m a red-head both in coloring and in attitude. I’m opinionated. I like to stir people up a little bit. Not to cause trouble, but for giggles.
I’m a homebody these days and have the occasional creative streak. I like to think I am somewhat intelligent. I like to make things and if I can do it out of recycled materials I am even happier. I cook the majority of meals at home from scratch, not only because it is healthier and I’m frugal but also because I find it enjoyable and quite relaxing. There is nothing quite like taking your aggression out on an unsuspecting piece of dough and just kneading the hell out of it.
I value education and morals. These are a few things I would really like to pass on to my child. I don’t like how I see society and would love to make some changes in the way people value each other. While I dish out a lot of crap, it is only ever done in humor. I don’t like the idea of intentionally hurting someone. I personally see all people as equal. I don’t care what your nationality, skin color, religious or sexual preferences are.
My life is full of contradictions. I have a scientific mind and yet I still believe that the supernatural is plausible until proven otherwise. I love having friends but I am not very good at socializing. I am a girl but I don’t know how to do girly things. I love technology but still consider myself to be somewhat green-minded. I love homegrown vegetables. But I am a lousy gardener. I like to eat reasonably healthy and I exercise by walking everywhere, yet I still smoke and drink way too much coke.
I like to pick flaws in other people’s logic and nothing gets me going more than a nice topical debate or discussion. I enjoy reading and movies and in both cases I really love a good horror or thriller - the kind of book you can’t put down or one that leaves you just too scared to sleep.
I like to document almost every aspect of my life. The good, the bad and the ugly. I take a lot of photos and videos and I share them with anyone who cares to look.
That’s about all I can think of for the moment. But I guarantee there will be a lot more to come. I have a lot to say… about everything.
